Dave thinks we&#8217;re about 7 or 8 hours out. We drove off the expressway into the historic section of town and found a nice old restaurant with an outside courtyard.<\/p>\n<p>Since we&#8217;re going downhill from the Alabama hills to the sealevel gulf coast our gas mileage has skyrocketed up from 8.2 mpg to 8.5 mpg.
